I’m a lover of all foods Italian….unless they include fish. Or cabbage. Or bleu cheese. So, let’s just say I love all Italian foods except Italian Fish Bleu Cheese Cabbage Casserole. Moving on! Chicken Cacciatore is a delicious dish. Putting it in the crock pot can only make it better….and easier. It’s a win-win. That’s Amore! [Read more…]
Crock Pot Polka Dot Peanut Butter Brownies
Today I’m super excited about our guest post from Dianne over at Baking 4 Six. She’s going to rock our crocks with some brownies! True love happened when crock pots met brownies. I love a good love story. |
How cute are these?? Typically brownies are baked in squares & rectangles. However, not only does making brownies in a slow-cooker result in circle or oval shaped brownies, but it also allows brownies to be made year-round in those areas when it’s just too hot to turn on the oven during certain times of the year. Plus you and your loved ones can come home to a freshly made treat after a long day away from home. [Read more…] |
Crock Pot Taco Meat
I wanted a taco salad. Actually, I want taco salads on a regular basis. However, it was going to be a busy afternoon and I knew I wouldn’t have time to fix tacos later in the day. I had time right after lunch, so I threw this together. And let me tell you something – it is GOOD. Of course, I have a heart for tacos. Do you have a heart for tacos? Of course you do honey. Make this. [Read more…] |
Crock Pot Spicy Hamburger Goulash
I made this Spicy Hamburger Goulash one night for my parents because they were watching Annie while I had a workshop close to their house…..they said it was too spicy. Annie wouldn’t eat it. She said it was “hot.” Barry and I thought it was just right…..and I didn’t even need a hanky. If you don’t want it spicy, you can just cut back on the amount of chili powder. This is a very versatile recipe because you can vary the spices and beans as you like. You could even add corn if you want to. My parents are pansies when it comes to hot food – but I love them anyway. [Read more…] |
Crock Pot Cleaning
We have a very special guest post today from Crock Pot Recipe Exchange! Ginger is here today to let us know how to easily clean our crock pots without causing any damage to them…..because that would cause anyone major trauma. |
The ease of using the crock pot to cook your meals in is undebatable. Sometimes the cleaning of the crock pot is not so simply answered. The first thing you want to insure you do to make cleaning your crockery easier is to empty any remaining food out as soon as possible. The sooner you get the food out the sooner you can fill the crockery up with dish soap and water. The only thing I warn against is to make sure your crockery has cooled completely. Drastic changes in temperature of the water to the crockery can cause it to break, and no one wants that to happen. [Read more…] |
Crock Pot Spicy Chicken Soup
I’m just going to go ahead and tell you. I love soup. I’m so excited when it’s finally soup season! I would eat it all year long, but Barry prefers it when it’s cold outside. I caved and made this recently….and it turned out to be 90 degrees that day. By the time we were done with dinner we were sweating like pigs and had to go get the box fan. Oops? But it was worth it! Chock full of veggies and beans, it will fill your tummy up quickly and keep you nice and warm…..or nice and sweaty. [Read more…] |
Homemade Crock Pot Pizza Sauce
Well, I know y’all love pizza. No, I don’t have ESP……every time I ask on Facebook on Friday what y’all are eating, about 80% of you say pizza. Is Friday National Pizza Day and someone forgot to tell me?
Anyway, we love pizza too……but I checked out the label on the pizza sauce at the store – and then I put it back on the shelf. I’ll spare you what’s in it. It’s not pretty.
So, I decided to make some myself to put in the freezer to have whenever we wanted pizza…..and it was EASY! I thought to myself: “Self, why not do this in the crock pot?” So, self did it in the crock pot.

Crock Pot Cajun Roast
I’ve made this dish several times and I think I love it better every time I make it. It’s delicious and it makes great leftovers for lunch. I love things that are leftover for lunch…..it just makes my day a lot easier. Leftovers ROCK! This was originally a Pillsbury recipe, but I tweaked it a little like usual…..okay, so I tweaked it a lot. I have to do that now with our new eating habits. Beef. It’s what’s for dinner. [Read more…]
Crock Pot Stuffed Peppers
I love stuffed peppers – Barry tolerates them – Annie only eats the middle. So, when I was thinking about dinner, stuffed peppers seemed like a logical choice. Ahem. The original recipe was from Taste of Home, but I tweaked it just a little bit. They were SO GOOD! Barry said they ranked about an 8 in the “stuffed pepper” category, but not that high in the “food” category. Everyone’s a critic. The peppers were so tender after being cooked in the crock that they just melted in your mouth – pure yumminess. Ahhhh. Leftovers are bliss. [Read more…]
Crock Pot Beans and Rice
We really love beans and rice……rice and beans. And it’s not because they’re cheap either. We just really love beans…..and rice. It’s just a nice perk that they’re cheaper than meat. We have beans at least one night per week and sometimes more than that. If you eat here, more than likely you’ll have beans or pasta. Wanna come to dinner? I attempted to set out and create my own beans and rice recipe just for the crock pot……and the result was good. There were a few changes I’ll make next time, but I’ll note those for you. I mess up a lot – so therefore I make lots of recipe notes. It’s how I roll. [Read more…]
