For when you want to be ready when you roll out of bed
I prefer to know that breakfast is all ready to go when we get up – for some reason my day seems to go easier. And if that’s in my head, that’s fine with me. 😉
My friend Christina asked me to compile a list of our favorite make-ahead breakfasts, so I hope this will be helpful. I’ll also include a short list at the end of what I usually serve alongside our breakfasts.
And you’ll find a list of my favorite frugal items to purchase instead of make – because life happens.
Be assured, it’s an easy list. One of my life’s mottos is: if it isn’t easy, I probably won’t do it.
My favorite make-head items to bake:
This is a stand-by meal for us. We probably have it 2-3 times a week. I’ve got the recipe memorized. Because we all enjoy it and it’s easy, this is a win for me. I’ll make it when I’m fixing dinner and just cover it until the next morning. You do NOT have to soak the oats – you can bake right away if you prefer.
Same with the oatmeal. I make as I’m preparing dinner and just cover until the next morning. I usually double this recipe and bake in a 9×13 pan.
Muffins
These are another one I make 2-3 times a week. Three of our favorites are: Blueberry, Applesauce (I double), and Mini Pancake (I also double this one).
I have a favorite Bran muffin recipe but the blog no longer exists, so I might end up posting the recipe here.
Granola and Yogurt
My kids LOVE this breakfast – I could probably serve a different granola each week and they would be happy.
Our 3 favorite granolas: Cinnamon Peanut Butter, Classic, and Chocolate.
I grab our organic vanilla yogurt at Aldi. <3
Toast & Smoothie
The day before, I’ll make sure I have bread. If not, I’ll whip some up using the Bread Beckers Basic Dough.
We usually do: avocado, peanut butter, cookie butter, or cheese.
And if you need a smoothie tutorial, I got you.
WHY IS TOAST SO DELICIOUS?
Favorite items to buy:
English Muffins + PB
Organic oatmeal packets
Aldi bagels or breakfast bread
Aldi organic granola
Protein pancake mix (You guessed it – Aldi)
What do I serve alongside breakfast?
I try to keep it easy and frugal so we usually serve most things with fruit. If I need extra protein I will add:
Boiled eggs (made the night before and put in the fridge)
Nuts of some sort
Or nut butter
Cheese (Aldi has GREAT grass-fed cheeses)
Yogurt
Try making breakfast ahead and see if that helps save your mornings!
