This topic was raised by several Facebook followers who asked if we (well, Barry in particular) would talk about safety for the family: including fire safety, bullying, safety on the internet, etc. [Read more…]
Barry and I are not setting resolutions. We don’t have big resolutions for January 1 to change our bodies, to start a new, good habit (or quit an old, bad one!), or to start saving more money. While those aren’t bad things, in the Myers household, we set goals, not resolutions.
In fact, our 2019 goals revolve around the fact that we want YOU to succeed.
I’ve been blogging for a LONG time – and I’ve done so many live videos that I sometimes feel like is no possible way I’ve got something to share that I haven’t already told y’all! And yet, one of the most common things you ask me to talk about more is homemaking tips. Well…I’m still a work in progress, but I have learned a few things that I’m happy to share. So…let’s dive in to some things I’m commonly asked about homemaking. [Read more…]
Before we get started, let me explain what Thieves® actually is, since some of you are probably thinking this post is about how Stacy and Barry recommend you deal with criminals. Sorry to disappoint. 😉 Thieves® is the name of Young Living’s blend of: Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils. It is used in several cleaning and personal care products, and it is the oil blend that was our “gateway drug” to essential oils. So…if you’re one of those people who thinks oils are hokey and silly, this actually might be the perfect article for you, because that’s where we were before Thieves®.
First, some history (legend): In France during the 15th century, grave robbers would steal from the graves of those who had been killed by some of the terrible plagues Europe was suffering through in those days. According to the popular legend, the thieves protected themselves by covering their bodies in a combination of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals which kept them safe. When caught, the government showed them mercy if they were willing to share the recipe for this concoction they used to ward off the nasty stuff they were exposed to when they dug up the graves. Young Living’s Thieves® essential oil blend is based on what those thieves used in the middle ages. So what made us decide to ditch all the cleaners and most of the chemical products in our house and switch to Thieves®? [Read more…]
On cold, wintry days nothing quite hits the spot like a nice, hot latte to warm you up from the inside out! But y’all, a Homemade Peppermint Latte – ahhh-mazing! Nothing tops that.
To make my homemade peppermint lattes, I prefer to use my blender, but you can also totally use a hand held milk frother for this, too. I found mine on Amazon pretty cheap. I think this would make a great stocking stuffer or birthday gift for the foodie (do people still call them that?) or coffee lover in your life. [Read more…]
If you follow me on Instagram you know that I love Bible journaling. I repeatedly get asked about it, but I actually don’t know that I have ever written or shared about it. Why? Because y’all, I am not an artist! That is just not my gift or platform, but I absolutely love it.
Let me just say again…I am not an artist! I only took the bare minimum when it came to art in school. But God introduced me to Lisa over at CreativLEI.com. We became friends and she taught me how to letter. She actually has a free 30 day lettering course on her website. And thanks to her, I learned how to get fancy with my letters. I learned Calligraphy and how to be more creative with my writing style.
My love of lettering and lettering scripture morphed into Bible journaling.
Y’all probably know by now that Wednesday and Saturday are my preferred Kitchen Days, which means on those days, you can usually find me in my apron doing some cooking, baking, and prepping up a storm! To see just what I make each week, on by checking out my Kitchen Day escapades on Instagram and Facebook. And today I’m sharing some of my thoughts and tips on food storage.
We eat most of our meals at home and my kids are hungry a lot, so I always make a ton of food. I get asked often what in the world I do when I cook all this bulk food! Where and how do I store it all? I realize that not everyone will be able to cook as much as I do or have room to store it all! But because bulk cooking and buying health foods in bulk are some of our family’s priorities, I’ve always found a way to store it all.
Jumping right in – here are a few quick food storage tips: [Read more…]
Barry and I have been married for over 15 years and it was only in the last few years that we decided to simplify Christmas. When we first got married, I’m not going to lie – Christmas was more than a little stressful! We felt like we needed to give gifts to everyone. We spent a ton of time shopping and wrapping – trying to find the perfect gift for each person. I don’t like to give crap that people don’t want – stuff that people just want to return.
It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to be a good gift giver.
As a result, I found myself not enjoying the Advent season (the days leading up to Christmas) as much as I should! And to top it all off – I don’t like clutter! We would come home from events and gatherings with a car load full of gifts. And as soon as we’d bring it all inside and I would be instantly overwhelmed – so overwhelmed that a lot of times the stuff we got for Christmas would just sit for days or even weeks. I just couldn’t handle all the stuff that kept coming in.
It felt like for the longest time, there was nothing I could to about it.
One of the things I do as a big part of my Young Living business is share what I call “my loaner kit”. It’s a small collection of oils that I like to share with people – just to borrow, not to keep – so they can experience the oils for themselves. Whenever I go to pick up the oil kit, I like to give them something just for fun. I usually make them a small essential oil roller bottle to give them as a thank you for letting me share my oils with them.
If this is your first time making an essential oil roller bottle, the most important thing to know is that you absolutely must dilute your oils. Our bodies just absorb the oils properties better when we dilute them before using them on our skin. When you put them on your skin undiluted, they are too strong. Just way too strong. [Read more…]
Note: Today’s post on how to love and edify your spouse was originally a part of my Watch Your Mouth Family Challenge.
If I am following someone on social media who starts to tear their spouse down, says they are angry, talks about when their spouse does something dumb or that they don’t like, I will unfollow them immediately. This happens way more often than it should!! I don’t have time for that negativity…and you shouldn’t either.
