“I am so busy, I just don’t have time for that.” “As much as I want to, I can’t add anything else to my plate.” You know the drill – you decided it was time to make a healthy change, but you failed. Maybe you got overwhelmed with all the information because you just had to “know it all” before you got started. Maybe you didn’t actually believe it was possible, so you talked yourself out of it. Or maybe you didn’t actually want to make the change – you just said you did. 😉 #beenthere Today, I want to work through some ideas and tips for how to make healthy changes that will actually last.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a doctor – shocker, right? I’m definitely not a psychiatrist, psychologist, or any sort of expert in these types of things. But I have done a lot of reading on the topic of conscious language and have all sorts of thoughts to share. Spoiler Alert: Conscious Language has changed a LOT (for the better) for us.

The World’s “Okayest Life” is not okay.
How on earth does she get everything done? Is it really possible to have a healthy body, marriage and family, organized home, and run a little side hustle without cloning yourself? Maybe you are like the old me who thought that “successful women” who “had it all” must be super heroes or at very least born lucky. I would start towards a goal, like getting debt free, I’d do all the research, get the budget all set up, and then I would hit a major bump in the road and that was it! I quit! These kind of goals aren’t for people like me! Guess I’ll just keep on getting by and living the world’s “okayest” life.
[Read more…]Dealing with Negativity
Before we get started, let’s be clear…this isn’t a passive-aggressive rant on someone who has been mean to me, or some judgmental sermon about a company, cause, or political organization. Instead, this is a common-sense guide to dealing with negativity in your life, whether it is online or face-to-face. For some reason, a lot of our society has forgotten its politeness, and often, when someone disagrees with something you say or do, they immediately get ugly. Let’s talk about how to deal with all of that, shall we?

[Read more…]Someone is Always Going to Disagree with You
I do a lot of how-to articles. And I share a lot of recipes. I give y’all tips on everything from cleaning products to food storage. But today’s post isn’t information that you can take and go implement. There are no physical steps to take or list of action items. Today I’m sharing something that I hope goes in to your head and heart and hopefully changes your attitude.
A while back I was having a conservation with one of my dear friends, Jessica, from Smartter Each Day. We were chatting about the idea of belief, and the hard reality that there is always going to be someone who disagrees with the things you do. This could apply to anything in life: from your faith, your health, your parenting, or even your marriage. No matter what you do and what choices you ultimately make in life, someone is always going to disagree with you. [Read more…]
How I Organize My Days…and You Can Too
I realize it’s been a while since I talked about this, and if you have been a follower for a while, you may recall that I have talked before about how I organize my days. I do it in a very specific way and turns out, the concept is not new AT ALL. I actually first heard about it when I when I was younger – like a lot younger. We’re talking when I was a little girl.
Any of y’all remember Little House in the Big Woods?
Why Stitch Fix is a Good Fit
When it comes to clothes, Stitch Fix is a good fit for me – and might be a good fit for you, too! Before I get started though, it’s important for y’all to know that when Barry and I were first married, Stitch Fix was not a realistic option for us. When we were on a strict budget (read, super tight), trying really hard to pay off our debt, decent clothes were not even on our radar.
If you are in a place where you have a little bit more disposable income for clothing, or nice clothes are a high priority for you, keep reading.

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I love Bible journaling. I repeatedly get asked about it, but I actually don’t know that I have ever written or shared about it. Why? Because y’all, I am not an artist! That is just not my gift or platform, but I absolutely love it.
Let me just say again…I am not an artist! I only took the bare minimum when it came to art in school. But God introduced me to Lisa over at CreativLEI.com. We became friends and she taught me how to letter. She actually has a free 30 day lettering course on her website. And thanks to her, I learned how to get fancy with my letters. I learned Calligraphy and how to be more creative with my writing style.
My love of lettering and lettering scripture morphed into Bible journaling.
