I realize it’s been a while since I talked about this, and if you have been a follower for a while, you may recall that I have talked before about how I organize my days. I do it in a very specific way and turns out, the concept is not new AT ALL. I actually first heard about it when I when I was younger – like a lot younger. We’re talking when I was a little girl.
Why Stitch Fix is a Good Fit
When it comes to clothes, Stitch Fix is a good fit for me – and might be a good fit for you, too! Before I get started though, it’s important for y’all to know that when Barry and I were first married, Stitch Fix was not a realistic option for us. When we were on a strict budget (read, super tight), trying really hard to pay off our debt, decent clothes were not even on our radar.
If you are in a place where you have a little bit more disposable income for clothing, or nice clothes are a high priority for you, keep reading.
Finding Time For Your Marriage
If y’all have been following for any amount of time you know that I am a stay-at-home, work-from-home, homeschooling mom. But more importantly than that, I am a wife to Barry. Being a wife is just as much – if not more! – who I am than all those other things. But for some reason, finding time for your marriage is just one of the hardest things to do!
You are not just a homemaker. You are not just a mom. You are a wife.
Sometimes my life as a homemaker is so constant and non-stop that it’s easy for it to take over and become my life. Make breakfast, do dishes, sweep, mop, wipe butts, wash hands, make snack, wipe butts, clean up messes, make lunch, wipe butts, wipe snotty nose, repeat. Yes, it seems like a never-ending job. It seems like it is your whole life is tied up in your role as a mom and homemaker. But here’s the thing – your kids are going to grow up and leave one day. When that happens, you want to make sure you still have a (good) relationship with your spouse. I don’t want to feel like an empty shell of a person when the kids are gone! It’s important that I cultivate my relationship with Barry, not just my children. [Read more…]
How to Handle Kitchen Day When You Have Little Kids
Kitchen Day saves my behind ALL. THE. TIME. But that doesn’t mean it’s always easy! Especially with kids, a productive Kitchen Day sometimes takes longer than normal. Lately, school with Annie is taking more time from me than it use to. So how do I make it work…and can you? I say yes! Let’s talk about how. [Read more…]
Safety Q & A with Barry and Stacy!
This topic was raised by several Facebook followers who asked if we (well, Barry in particular) would talk about safety for the family: including fire safety, bullying, safety on the internet, etc. [Read more…]
Homemaking Tips / FAQ
I’ve been blogging for a LONG time – and I’ve done so many live videos that I sometimes feel like is no possible way I’ve got something to share that I haven’t already told y’all! And yet, one of the most common things you ask me to talk about more is homemaking tips. Well…I’m still a work in progress, but I have learned a few things that I’m happy to share. So…let’s dive in to some things I’m commonly asked about homemaking. [Read more…]
Peppermint Latte
On cold, wintry days nothing quite hits the spot like a nice, hot latte to warm you up from the inside out! But y’all, a Homemade Peppermint Latte – ahhh-mazing! Nothing tops that.
To make my homemade peppermint lattes, I prefer to use my blender, but you can also totally use a hand held milk frother for this, too. I found mine on Amazon pretty cheap. I think this would make a great stocking stuffer or birthday gift for the foodie (do people still call them that?) or coffee lover in your life. [Read more…]
All About Bible Journaling
If you follow me on Instagram you know that I love Bible journaling. I repeatedly get asked about it, but I actually don’t know that I have ever written or shared about it. Why? Because y’all, I am not an artist! That is just not my gift or platform, but I absolutely love it.
Let me just say again…I am not an artist! I only took the bare minimum when it came to art in school. But God introduced me to Lisa over at CreativLEI.com. We became friends and she taught me how to letter. She actually has a free 30 day lettering course on her website. And thanks to her, I learned how to get fancy with my letters. I learned Calligraphy and how to be more creative with my writing style.
My love of lettering and lettering scripture morphed into Bible journaling.
Kitchen Day: Food Storage
Y’all probably know by now that Wednesday and Saturday are my preferred Kitchen Days, which means on those days, you can usually find me in my apron doing some cooking, baking, and prepping up a storm! To see just what I make each week, on by checking out my Kitchen Day escapades on Instagram and Facebook. And today I’m sharing some of my thoughts and tips on food storage.
We eat most of our meals at home and my kids are hungry a lot, so I always make a ton of food. I get asked often what in the world I do when I cook all this bulk food! Where and how do I store it all? I realize that not everyone will be able to cook as much as I do or have room to store it all! But because bulk cooking and buying health foods in bulk are some of our family’s priorities, I’ve always found a way to store it all.
Jumping right in – here are a few quick food storage tips: [Read more…]
How To Simplify Christmas
Barry and I have been married for a lot of years, but it was only in the last few years that we decided to simplify Christmas. When we first got married, I’m not going to lie – Christmas was more than a little stressful! We felt like we needed to give gifts to everyone. We spent a ton of time shopping and wrapping – trying to find the perfect gift like these Sweet Vegan Chocolates here for each person. I don’t like to give crap that people don’t want – stuff that people just want to return.
It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to be a good gift giver.
As a result, I found myself not enjoying the Advent season (the days leading up to Christmas) as much as I should! And to top it all off – I don’t like clutter! We would come home from events and gatherings with a car load full of gifts. And as soon as we’d bring it all inside and I would be instantly overwhelmed – so overwhelmed that a lot of times the stuff we got for Christmas would just sit for days or even weeks. I just couldn’t handle all the stuff that kept coming in.
It felt like for the longest time, there was nothing I could to about it.
