One of the more popular non-food questions I get asked is where do I buy my clothes? And the answer might surprise you!
I almost always buy my clothes ONLINE! Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I went to a store to buy clothes! I hate shopping in the store because dressing rooms always make me feel ugly. Y’all, I don’t know that I ever go to a dressing room to try on anything and leave feeling good about myself. I don’t think that’s ever happened. Every time I leave a dressing room, I feel like a big fat failure.
I don’t know if it’s the dressing room mirrors. Or maybe it’s the terrible lighting. But dressing rooms are just not my friends. That’s why I like to buy my clothes online. The merchandise comes to my house. I can try everything on right here in my house, in my room, with my mirrors, and my lighting. Everything feels and looks better when I’m comfortable! So let’s dive in to learn about the actual places I get my clothes on the interwebs.
My 3 favorite places to shop online are:
- Swap
- Amazon
- Cents of Style
Swap
Swap is great online consignment store that specializes in high quality, gently used clothing. They have the most amazing selection and a great return policy. If the clothes or shoes don’t fit or if you don’t like them, you can return for free, and get store credit to try something else!
Don’t forget that if you buy clothes from Swap, you are buying clothes that are used. This means you may get something that is like new or something that has been gently worn. But how does anyone know if I was the one who has gently wore something or if it was Susie Q down the street who gently wore it? No one knows! And I don’t care that it’s used; I’m not proud! Swap totally gets my seal of approval!
Plus, if you need a place to sell your used clothing, Swap is also the easiest and best online site to send clothes off too. I have done it several times and don’t see a negative in their services, which I did experience with some other online consignment stores.
Amazon
Y’all. Don’t even get me started on Amazon. My girl crush, Crystal, from Money-Saving Mom, talked about a dress she bought on Amazon and it inspired me to check out Amazon’s selection the next time I went to buy my clothes. Now, I love shopping there. Some of my favorite pieces are from Amazon! If you haven’t looked at clothes on Amazon, specifically for dresses, you should! The selection is great, but best part is that all items fulfilled by Amazon have free shipping and free returns.
Always read the questions and reviews before you buy anything on Amazon.
People tell you all the nitty-gritty details – sometimes more details than you want or need! They tell you about the colors, the fit , if the sizing is true or runs big, small, short, long, etc. and it’s almost always accurate. But in case you still don’t love something you purchased… did I mention Amazon has free returns? I use their free returns like nobody’s business!
There’s also a new program called Merch where tons of smaller businesses, like Humorous Homemaking can sell their products on Amazon. Our Humorous Homemaking store has some of my favorite t-shirts with sayings like, “Feed the people, keep them alive.” And “Get Off Your Blessed Assurance and Do Something.” If you haven’t seen our new t-shirts yet, you should definitely go check them out.
Amazon is also especially great for bras, y’all!
First of all, if you are struggling to find a good fit, I highly encourage you to check out Shannon, The Bra Fit Advocate. Shannon’s help has been life-changing. And if you haven’t seen it yet, y’all should go check out my bra video! I hate trying on bras at the store. I feel violated, and I for some reason, I’m worried there’s a camera in the fitting room. The same bra won’t work for everyone, but Amazon has so many options, I know you’ll find one you love.
Cents of Style
I wear a lot of t-shirts with sayings on them, and I buy most of them from Cents of Style. I was once again inspired by Crystal Paine on this. If you subscribe to her Money-Saving Mom email list, Crystal often shares coupon codes where you can buy these t-shirts at a discount, usually around $16.95 each.
Who doesn’t want to shop at home so they can have free shipping, free returns, and not have to enter horrible dressing rooms with weird mirrors?
Embrace your introverted-ness! Stay home and shop online. I just had to pass along my favorite places to shop because I’m just a cultivator of awesome like that. And y’all know if I have good news, I can’t help but share!
What about you? Where do you shop online? Or do you prefer to go to stores?

I can’t shop online 🙁
I’m petite but not that petite to fit kids clothes. I’m small, all clothes bury me, yer kids clothes are too tight. I actually can’t remember the last time I bought clothes. I hate clothes shopping, but when I need to do it, I go to stores where I can try the items on!

That’s a bummer! Maybe once you find what brands/sizes work, you can find those styles online!
