Using a Nutrimill: The Video

You’ve been asking for the longest time for me to do a video showing you how my grain mill works – so here it is! I use a Nutrimill Classic Grain Mill. I hope you enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions. I’ll put the links that I mentioned below so that you don’t have to go hunting for them.

Grinding Flour in my Nutrimill

A Few Words About Wheat – from the Bread Beckers (an explanation of wheat types)

Lowes DOES sell food-grade buckets if you need them. If you get the non-food grade buckets you’ll need a food-grade plastic liner which you can find at food supply stores.

Here are the gamma seal lids that I use.

ALSO, see this video where I talk about the types of grains that I grind.

The 1 cup to 1 1/4 cup ratio that I mention in the video applies to Soft White Wheat (pastry flour).

Once again, you have helped me in my quest to eat real and not processed foods. I bought the Nutrimill and some wheat berries, watched your video, and ground my very first ever batch of whole wheat flour! It was SO EASY, and your video gave me the courage to just go for it!

Your blog is always an inspiration to me, and I love, love, love your approach to things.

    Thank you!

How long do the wheat berries last in the 5 gallon containers?

Wheat never goes bad. In fact, they have found wheat berries in ancient Egyptian tombs and once it was planted, it sprouted. 🙂

Stacy, how do you store your homemade bread?

I have a long bread (tupperware type) box. In the hot summer months it stays in the fridge. In the winter I keep it out on the counter.

Did you get your Nutrimill before you Blendtec? Why don’t you use your Blendtec?

I’ve had my Nutrimill for about 4 years and my Blendtec less than one. 🙂

Whew! I I was worried that maybe the Blendtec didn’t cut it long term for grinding grains! I just bought a Blendtec, and so far it has been working fantastic! 🙂

I don’t know about long term. I just know some people use it that way. Have you tried blender pancakes? Amazing!
