When our family cut out most of our caffeine we then switched to decaf coffee. It resulted in several weeks of headaches for Barry and me. First we went to half-caf and had headaches about two weeks. Then we switched to 100% decaf and had another two weeks of headaches. But now we’re feeling fine! It’s sorta scary when you think about it. I told Barry I felt like a drug addict.Coffee is one of my morning enjoyments. I love smelling it brewing and I love pouring a steaming cup. It just makes breakfast seem right. However, being on decaf coffee can be hard if you’re out and about. When you ask people if they have decaf, they always give you this strange, bizarre look. “No, I don’t think so.” I know they’re thinking, “you look too young to be drinking decaf.” And when I order decaf at restaurants I always wonder if they REALLY brought me decaf or if they just pour everyone a cup out of the same pot. Things that make you go hmmmmmm. Or for that matter, was my burger formerly on the floor in the kitchen? It’s best just not to ponder on these things. |

Then I read about Teecino. Teecino is tea that tastes like coffee. It sounds like some sort of miracle doesn’t it? Coffee without the caffeine that’s GOOD FOR YOU? Yes please. If you’ve been around here for long, you know that I hate tea. BLECH! No thanks. *Shiver* I know it’s weirdo that I’m a southern gal who won’t drink tea. But I’m used to being weird.Teecino is organic herbal coffee. You brew it just like you would brew coffee grounds. It’s naturally caffeine free and it’s also non-acidic….which is nice since Barry is prone to mouth ulcers. They have tons of different flavor options, which makes me happy. |
So, we ordered some from Amazon since that was the cheapest place I could find it. I love Amazon…..I order tons of stuff from there. I brewed it up and it smelled GREAT! Our first cups were met with doubt from Barry. I was just excited that I might actually like tea. Well, did we? Yep. I’ve been using it very regularly now, only switching it out with decaf coffee now and then. Does it taste exactly like coffee? No. Will you know it’s tea? Nope. If I had been given some, thinking it was coffee, I would have just wondered “Hmmmmm. Wonder what flavor this is?”Now, I can’t wait to try all the flavors! 😀 Have you tried it? |

The French Roast and the Chocolate Mint are my favorite Teecino flavors. I love making up Teecino in a French Press. It really brings out the flavors. Also another product that is really good is called Dandy Blend. That comes very close to smelling and tasting like coffee! Sometimes I blend Teecino and Dandy Blend together for an awesome taste. I do not like the taste of regular tea as well! I just discovered your site. Looks like a wealth of great information here! Thank you very much!

For some reason this reminds me of that YerbaMate stuff.

When I used to work at a restaurant, we’d never give regular if they asked for decaf, in case the caffeine did something awful to them. But, we would give decaf it was the only thing available at the moment when someone would ask for regular :0

Oooooooh. 🙂 Thanks for the info!

I love Teecino! My favorite flavor is the Maya Chocolate. I really like the fact that it brews in the coffee maker so it gives the coffee experience without the caffeine.
Stacy says
Thanks! I”ll try the Maya Chocolate next!

I have tried Teecino, and actually liked it. Mark and I NEED to give up coffee, but haven’t. He’s super stubborn on it, and brewing him coffee and me Teecino just makes zero logistical sense, especially since do whole bean cofee. But I’m ready. I hate knowing that coffee is an addiction for us. Hmmmm….

Yeah…..it’s a shocker when you go through that “detox.”

Another product you might want to try is called caf-lib. Like your tea, it is caffeine free, and kinda tastes like coffee, but is a little different. It is roasted ground chicory, and it has a nice nutty, almost savory taste. It comes in a jar like instant coffee, and you use it the same way. I find mine in the grocery store near the regular coffee, but you could probably find it online too.

Thanks for the info!

I won’t go in to why I started drinking coffee (yard duty – cold weather)… but it’s more of a “mental” thing than a like – however, I do enjoy tea – hot tea, that it, because I like it black (no sugar, no sweetner). Thanks for sharing this – times like this, I wish we were neighbors so I could sample some of yours. Or so we could order a whole bunch of flavors & divide them 🙂

It would be AWESOME to be neighbors!
