It was love at first sight…me and this cheeseburger pizza. Okay, so Barry and the kids ate some too. We were all quite smitten. It makes you do crazy things and act all nutso. However, the deliciousness makes it all worth the weirdo behavior. And because I love you, I’m sharing the recipe – so that way I won’t be nutso alone.

Best Homemade Natural Ant Killer
Ants give me the heebie jeebies. We never had problems with ants inside until last year. I called Barry at work in a panic. “WE HAVE ANTS! COME HOME NOW!” Of course, he didn’t. We needed an ant killer…and he failed me. So, I called residential pest control services to inspect the whole house and get rid of ants and any other pests that may be lurking inside.
My mom uses Terro for ants, so I was familiar with it. Barry and I used a recipe for homemade Terro that we found on the internet.
Fast forward a few years, having kids who are always running around everywhere, I wanted to be more careful. We don’t want to use lots of chemicals in our home, so we made another concoction from stuff we had here to get rid of the little devils. And like sometimes happens with homemade remedies…

I store all of my favorite and most-used recipes in page protectors in a 3-inch binder that stays in my closet. When I make my meal plan, I choose one or two new recipes and then the rest are old standbys from the binder. I clean it out a few times a year to make room for new recipes we try and love. I’ve had several requests to talk about my favorite recipes by category, so let’s do this! Where should we start? Well…they do say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so let’s talk about my favorite breakfast recipes.
Oh Breakfast, how do I love thee…let me count the ways.
I may have mentioned a time or two…or two hundred…that breakfast is one of my favorite meals. I could literally eat it every day for the rest of my life 😉 A while back, I shared my 10 Easy, Go-To Breakfasts and I received a lot of comments on how much y’all loved that. I’ve also let y’all in on my secret to stress-free mornings with my Solution For Your Breakfast Woes. Make-ahead breakfasts for the win! This post isn’t quite that focused – in this post, we’re focused on a lot of my favorite recipes, but what you do with them and when is all up to you. [Read more…]
Tips for Reheating Leftovers
One thing y’all have to know about me…I love me some leftovers.
There is almost nothing better than knowing you don’t have to worry about what’s for lunch because you’ve got leftovers in the fridge! And because I would love to make your lives easier too, I’ve got some easy tips for reheating leftovers that I would love to share.
Sometimes lunch sneaks up on me and the little people are hungry, but there’s no food prepped. That’s why I cook extra food! I actually try to intentionally cook more than enough food at meal times so I know that I will have leftovers for lunch the next day. We can have leftovers at lunch here, and I also send some to work with Barry so he doesn’t have to eat out.
I’ve been asked often, “Stacy, how do you reheat leftovers so they actually taste good?”
Today, I’ll share just a few tips for reheating leftovers so you can no longer fear them. Instead you can embrace leftovers and actually plan your menu in advance to ensure that you have them. [Read more…]
My Favorite Sweeteners
“Sugar, ah honey honey… Honey, ah sugar sugar. And you’ve got me wanting you!”
Y’all frequently ask me about my favorite sweeteners; you want to know where I buy them and what recipes I use them in. Before I get started, let me just remind you that I am not an expert. I am just a home cook, sharing what I’ve learned over the years. I haven’t backed this up with scientific research or anything; this is just what I have gathered from trial and error.
We all can probably agree that for the most part, sugar is sugar.
The Solution to Your Breakfast Woes
I previously shared with you my 10 easy go-to breakfast recipes and today I want to share another helpful breakfast idea. For a while now, our family has been using a method that has really revolutionized life for us. It just might be the solution to your breakfast woes!
You all know I love to cook. More than anything, I love to cook breakfast. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love me some breakfast, girl!
Butter, syrup, butter, muffins, butter, coffee, butter, butter in coffee. My first thought in the morning is – I’m so glad it’s almost breakfast time!
I’m definitely not one of those people who’s like, “Rats, I just forgot to eat breakfast today!”
Or you guys that wake up and say, “No thanks, I don’t eat breakfast.” I don’t understand you. I mean, we can be friends, but I don’t understand you.
My kids are the same way – they want to know all about what they’re gonna have for breakfast the next day as they climb into bed.
For those of you who are breakfast people (and those of you who wish you were) – I’ve got the solution to your breakfast woes.
10 Easy Go-To Breakfasts
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.
I know some people say “I don’t like breakfast.” Or “I forget to eat breakfast.”

Not only is it good for breakfast, but it’s good for lunch. And supper. And snack. [Read more…]
10 Easy Meals When You’re in a Slump
Every year after Christmas, I get in a meal planning rut. I don’t feel like cooking – why can’t we all just eat cheese and crackers every day? And why do these people keep coming to me wanting more food?
When I had this rut the first time, it bothered me. Because I actually enjoy cooking. The second year, it felt familiar. Now, well over a decade into this whole home management routine, I know to expect it…except, it keeps lasting longer. And I wonder – will this eventually be a year-long thing? Ha ha! [Read more…]
Managing a Home When You Work Outside of It – Part 1
“Stacy, all that chore listing and stuff is cool, but I work outside the home. Sometimes part-time and sometimes full time. I still need help managing a home – how can I get this place under control?!”
I still believe dedicating certain days to certain tasks can work for you. It will take some tweaking on your part, but I think you can make it work and get your home under control.
I homeschool my children and run our business here at home, so that to me feels like a full time+ job. BUT, I know I am here all day and that makes a big difference. It would be super easy for me to give you some tips on this matter, but in all honesty…I really don’t know what I’m talking about. It would be me giving you advice about something I know nothing of. 8 Go-to Groceries I Buy at Costco, and Costco Grocery Price List Update
Hello all. Sonja here from Practical Stewardship.
First I wanted to share a few items that I can’t do without as a frugal, health-oriented mama.
Almost EVERY TIME I go to Costco, I buy these things:
Dave’s Killer Sprouted Bread: I believe it was this summer that Costco changed their brand of sprouted organic bread to Dave’s Killer Sprouted Bread. The other sprouted bread they sold previously was fine – a bit dry, but I would take it. I see (and taste) why Costco changed their sprouted bread supplier. THIS Dave’s Killer is a winner. At $6.99 for 2 loaves, we are in! [Read more…]
