I just love making videos for you. 🙂 I’ve had the desire to do more, but I hadn’t been able to make it work. I was worried people would be aggravated if they heard my kids in the background, but then I realized there is NEVER going to be a good time as long as I’m a mom. Life happens. So, I’m going to make videos anyway, even in my messy, mommy glory. You might hear my kids sometimes. Sometimes I might have spit up on my shoulder. Sometimes a telemarketer might call during the middle of a video (like this one). Who cares?! It’s the real-life Stacy Myers kitchen. Like it or lump it. 😉
I’ve talked to some of you about your fear of pressure cookers and exploding chickens. There really is no need for this fear! So, I wanted to show you my pressure cookers and give you a little overview. I will be doing more videos using my cookers – one using each pot so that you can get a feel for how they work.
I will link below the items that I use in this video so that you can check them out if you so desire. For some of them (Fissler), I had to save up a while in order to purchase them. But they are SO worth it! These are even better than a crock pot…sometimes 😉

What do YOU want to know about pressure cooking?
tonya says
Your link to your pinterest pressure cooker recipes links to a pressure cooker on amazon 🙁
Stacy says
Hi Tonya! Thanks so much for catching that…it was supposed to be a Pinterest link. I fixed it! Thanks for the help. 🙂

I’m one of those that was scared/intimidated by my pressure cooker, so much so I have owned it for a few years and only just recently tried it. It was a disaster. I tried to make brown basmati rice and it scorched! Do you have any advice on how to cook that kind of rice. I used 1 cup of rice and 1 1/2 cup water. I own a presto 4 quart stainless steel.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I’ve had my Fagor for 11 yrs and used it once, twice counting last night. You talked me into it, watched the video and I will make something in it again. Pork loin last night, done in 45 minutes. Fagor is different as it doesn’t jiggle, it has just a steam pop up stem. If I would buy again, it would be an electric one.
Stacy says
My Fissler has the pop up stem. 🙂

Hi, me again, Stacy! So… the brave cook bought the beautiful Fissler PC, that comes with the pressure pan, glass lid, trivet and perforated basket. After studying all the safety precautioqns, illustrations, was ready for my first recipe, Arroz Con Pollo, out of the little cook book that came with it.
Last night attempted this. Prepared everything according to instructions. Closed the lid properly, as indicated by the green traffic light on the lid handle, put ‘er on high, and the steam came out of the lid handle. Before turning on the heat, thought I pressed the setting valve button next to the rod on the other side of the lid. But the pan never reached pressure because the indicator rod (blue) on the lid never rose, to show the first white ring or the second white ring, even after about half an hour! We had to go to church for evening service, so turned off the heat and just left the pan on the stove. When back home, pushed in the pressure release button, and the lid came off easily enough, after waiting to make sure pressure was completely gone. Dinner was delicious. But I want to make a chuck roast in the bigger pot. Have any idea what I may have done wrong? The idea of making great dinners, etc. in these tools is very appealing to me. :-9

I’ve found that the few times that mine won’t come up to pressure, I’ve not had a seal in correctly or something wasn’t in the correct place. Just happened to me last week.

Great video! I have an 8 qt presto SS, which does have a quick release valve, but I certainly agree about the difficulties in using an electric stove. I also have an Instant Pot electric pressure cooker, which I love and use way more than the stove top one – plus it makes it very easy to make homemade yogurt! looking forward to more info
Stacy says
I have several friends who are pleased with their InstaPots. 🙂
Sonja Sarr says
Still a bit afraid of the pressure cooker, but a little less;)
Stacy says
I’ll fix that!
Yolanda says
FYI – you can order a stainless trivet for the bottom from the company, if you want to. 🙂
Stacy says
That’s what I was trying to say…I think I said “thingy.” Ha ha!
Lisa says
Makes me want to try! Look forward to seeing what you cook up in them. I have a new pressure cooker in the basement and haven’t worked up the nerve to try it yet.
Stacy says
GIRL! Get with it!

Love your blog. Please keep up the posts. You are a real hoot. (thats a good thing) for those that think that might be insult. You always make me laugh or feel your pain.
Stacy says
🙂 That makes me super happy.
Stacey says
You crack me up, Stacy! I bought a big ol’ pressure cooker used a while back, and I’ve only used it twice. I’m going to check out your Pinterest list for some recipes and give it another whirl, though. My question – how did you decide on the Duxtop induction burner? I’ve been trying to decide if I want to buy one – our cooktop is electric, but the ceramic glass, not coils.
Stacy says
We did a lot of reading about the type of oven/stove we would like to have when we build one day – and that was my top choice. I chose the Duxtop because of the good price and reviews on Amazon.

I love your videos and sense of humor. I have the same fissler set that you have purchased approx a year ago too. They are definitely the Cadillac of pressure cookers…so much quieter too. I only have an electric stove top and I’m finding with my fissler pans I don’t have as much fluctuation in temperature and I don’t keep the stove quite as high as I needed for my other pressure cookers. Dried beans are the number one thing I cook in mine. We don’t eat much meat around this house anymore but we love beans in the pressure cooker. I cook large amounts to freeze and have ready for quick meals or to add to salads. Thanks for profiling the lowly pressure cooker and taking some of the fear out of the equation. So many people are afraid of them…even if their grandmas never exploded.
Stacy says
I can’t wait to do some videos of how they work under pressure – pun intended. 🙂

Hi, Stacy! You are precious! Thank you for the video where I got to “meet you in person” and see the girl behind the great ideas and great humor. I enjoy your writing very much. I used a pressure cooker a lot when I was a kid first out on my own in an apt. I remember delicious roasts. Now, much later, I’ve been shy about PC’s because of the possible accidents, but just like your “Cadillac” and “Pinto” if you don’t drive it right, there will be accidents. I’ve wanted to pressure can tomatoes, but was shy about it. Ah, youth = no fear! So perhaps if one doesn’t grow up, then – no fear! But I see the Fissler pressure cooker set on your blog. Is the photo of the instruction/recipe booklet one that comes with the pressure cooker set? The thought of fast all-in-one meals really intrigues me. Are you thinking of writing a new cookbook for PC’s? I do have a gas stove, which I am very happy with.
Stacy says
Yes, those are the two manuals that came with each of mine. They both have several recipes in them.
I don’t think I’ll do another cookbook. I had thought about it, but so many recipes are free online that I don’t think it would sell very well.
Nancy L says
Oh, Stacy, you’re precious! Thank you for making this video, which I look forward to seeing more of, but I get to “meet” that zany girl behind the great humor! I have had a mild interest in using a pressure CANNER for summer and fall produce, but was, you know, explosion-shy, hmmm, of wall-to-wall and everywhere else, tomatoes. Which is funny because when I was a kid ‘way back in the 60’s, I used a pressure cooker to make delicious roasts! Now seeing your video indpires me to go ahead and try it again. Back then, the pressure cooker (used) was a housewarming gift in my first apt at age 19. No fear in youth, but I suppose if one never grows up, then one may never fear! I love your cook books and hope you will write your own pressure cooker book!
Stacy says
I have yet to use a pressure canner on my own. I always use it at my mom’s house.
Helen Thomas says
You are too cute. I don’t mind any distractions IN the videos because I can barely watch them without distraction here LOL
Stacy says
🙂 Thanks, Helen. You’re so nice.
Stacye says
What was the title of your cookbook? I have an electric pressure cooker that I love. And no chicken on the ceiling yet!
Stacy says
It’s up above in the post.
heather says
Love love my pressure cooker. I just put all my crock pots out in the garage. Pressure cookers are much better and faster. Use it almost every day
Stacy says
Mine are in the basement for when I need them. 🙂
