Here is a little video I put together for you all about how I use Plan To Eat to do our weekly meal plan. Some of you have asked me questions about how it works and how we do our meal planning, so I thought it would be easier to just show everyone at once. 🙂 (PS – The FTC says I have to tell you that’s my affiliate link. Blah, blah, blah.)
Also, take note that the way that I do our meal plans might not be the way everyone does it…because sometimes I do things weird – this is just the way I like to meal plan. And it will give you a general idea of how the software works.
Part of the way that we save money is by eating at home…and if you have a meal plan, that makes things SO much easier. One of the best ways to cut costs in your kitchen is to meal plan – so what are you waiting for?!
If you think you want to try Plan to Eat, the first month is FREE! Booya! I love telling you about free stuff. It’s only $39 a year or $4.95 a month – less than the cost of ONE meal eating out. You really can’t beat that.
But guess what?! Coming up on Black Friday weekend, you can get an annual Plan To Eat membership for 50% off!.
And as usual, I don’t tell you about things I don’t use and love myself. Because that would make me a liar…and you would see through that pretty quick. Plus, that’s not how I roll. I’m a Tell-It-Like-It-Is kinda girl.

Hi Stacy!
I just found out about you from a Dave Ramsey hashtag on Instagram! Your wonderful, we are just starting out on our journey to be debt free. Is there anyway this code still works for October 2015 readers?
Thanks
Marybeth
Barry says
Sorry Marybeth, the code is expired. I do have it on good authority though (wink, wink) that there is going to be a BIG Black Friday sale with Plan to Eat you could take advantage of if you can wait a few weeks. 😉

You can friend me. 🙂 It only shows my recipes though.

Good tip! I think I knew that…but I haven’t tried it since I don’t use the grocery list. Others might be interested though, so thanks for posting that here!

I realize that you said you don’t use the shopping list, but just FYI – if you add your extra items as “ingredients” rather than “notes”, it will add them to the shopping list. (For instance, when you’re adding Greek Yogurt or Strawberries.) Thanks for the chance to win!

Hi Stacy,
I have been considering giving this program a try (I saw you mention it a few months ago) but I don’t have a computer online at the moment – I use my BlackBerry for everything. There are a few concerns I hope you can answer for me.
Is there a way you can work around the bug where it doesn’t pick up the ingredients list of typed in recipes? Most of the recipes I use are my own. Is there a way I could post my recipes online somewhere, and then import them, to get around this? I really hope Clint is working on fixing this bug!
Is the shopping list cumulative? If you choose 3 recipes all calling for a cup of flour; does it list 3 cups of flour, just “flour”, or list “flour” 3 times?
Thanks,
John C
PlanToEat says
Hi John. Christopher here from Plan to Eat.
Plan to Eat is designed for larger screens (desktops, laptops and tablets). At this time our mobile site is best used for cooking and shopping, with some planning support but no ability to add/import new recipes. However you can use our full site on a smaller screen if you have tiny fingers… : )
In reference to picking up the ingredients, I am not sure what bug is being referenced. When adding a recipe it can parse the ingredients using the bulk input method for the full recipe or just for the ingredients. This will combine like ingredients on your shopping list from the multiple recipes in your planner.
YES! The shopping list is cumulative. It also organizes like items into the same area of the shopping list, so if you have red peppers, green peppers, and yellow peppers, all 3 peppers will be put under a heading of “peppers” on the shopping list.
Let us know if this doesn’t answer your questions or if there is anything we can do to help.
