My grandma used to do this and I have continued. Friends thought me weird! My grandma grew up in the depression and passed all her frugal ways onto me.
My friends all think I’m weird…that’s okay. 🙂
I do that too, my husband hates it. Every now and then, he goes through and throws away my stash.
Man oh man….if Barry did that, it’d be ON.
I do that same thing! It’s so handy and thrifty!
Great minds think alike. 🙂
Goodness! My mom always taught me to save the butter papers for greasing cookie sheets when making cookies. But I never did think to save them for any other time. Thank you for the reminder! 🙂
🙂 Funny thing….I NEVER grease my cookie sheets for cookies. I like how everyone does things differently. Your mama was one smart lady.
I’m looking for your advice on meat thermometers. I don’t remember if it was a Kitchen Tip Tuesday or not. Can you help me? Thanks!
I usually just say it’s good to have one. 🙂 They only cost a few bucks and they are well worth the price. Then you will always know your meat is the right temperature inside. Mine is just a simple job from Target.
I don’t let it go to waste, I scrape it clean and put it in the recipe I’m using, or at least back onto the stick of butter. Don’t have enough room in my fridge to keep butter papers around! Good idea though!
Even if I get all the butter off, I still find it’s greasy enough to butter a dish! 🙂 And they really don’t take up much space – you could pop them into a Ziploc and store them in the door. 🙂
My grandmother used to do that too!
