I Don’t Do Spring Cleaning

Y’all should know by now that I’m good at keepin’ it real. I don’t portray some kind of fairy-tale life here. We live in a dusty house – I hate to dust…so therefore I am waiting until Annie is old enough to do it for us. 😉

I don’t Spring clean – I never have. And I imagine I’m not the only one out there.  So, today I’m going to tell you how I keep our home clean without doing it.

Also realize that “clean” is a relative term. As I sit here, I can see dust, dust bunnies, and dust elephants…and grass because Barry mowed last night. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, something over there in the corner that’s unrecognizable. But, my children are fed and happy – and I made a cake today – life is pretty much awesome. 🙂

Hop on over to Keeper of the Home to read about my cleaning methods. Here is just a little preview:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…my goal in our home is to make sure we don’t live in a dump hole. At this stage of my life, with two little children and a messy dog, good enough has become good enough for me. When I’m 93, I won’t look back and say “Well honey, I sure do wish I had spring cleaned our house in 2013…I really missed out.” —> Read More

Healthy perspective. If you spend your childrens’ entire childhood with a duster and mop in hand, that’s how they’ll remember you. It sounds like your priorities are in order!

just wondering if you have a lot of vegie recipes in your crock pot cookbook. I have a budding vegetarian and since I am going back to school in Aug I’d really love to use my crock pot to have dinner ready without a lot of hands on time.

Just a thought – I know your daughter is still pretty young, but, if you put a pair of old socks on her arms, she becomes a dusting machine! 🙂 I did this with both of my sons when they wanted to “help out” (and man, do I miss those days!), and it turned dusting into a game. Who cares if everything gets completely cleaned off…like you said, at least the house isn’t a dump. It’s the effort that counts.

Bingo – I’m already head of you…been getting her to dust with me for months…because I plan on handing it off to her in a year or so. 🙂

Thank you for sharing that you’re not a clean-freak mom…it makes me feel less guilty about my far from clean home as well. =) No I didn’t get all the cleaning done over the weekend that I hoped to, but hey I finished 2 books, took my daughter to the park and roller skating, cleaned out my car, AND made a really good home-cooked meal (which usually happens on the weekend since I have a full-time job during the week) AND dessert (carmelitas – holy yum!). Yeah, my windows only get cleaned maybe once a year, and the place only dusted every couple of weeks, but I’m ok with that (taking a deep breath). *LOL*

Once a year? You’re totally beating me on that one.
