Welcome to the Myers family, Andrew James! 🙂
He arrived on Sunday, August 26th at 12:51am and we are SO GLAD to finally have HIM here with us! He came early, but he was right on time.
Mommy and baby are doing just fine. I look forward to sharing with you how everything went…but for now, I need time to rest and reflect.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
The idea of maternity leave sounds so funny to me….since I’m not going anywhere. Ha!! But, for the month of September, I am taking off. My sister is getting married on the 1st and I’m the Matron of Honor. I know life is going to be crazy for a while.
I thought that I’d have lots of posts written in advance and be able to take care of things that way – but then I decided to sorta disconnect for a while and focus on learning how to live with two children instead of one.
I will miss you all. We’ll still be on Facebook and we’ll give you baby updates via a few posts on the blog – sorry in advance for the gushing mama.
Don’t worry though!!! Humorous Homemaking will still be busy for the whole month. I’ve had several great blogging friends step up to the plate and agree to do posts for me. You’ll still be getting emails with great information and wonderful recipes.

Barry and I will be back on Monday, October 1st– a bit sleep deprived, but hoppin’ and ready to go!

Transitioning from one child to a pair wasn’t too hard. Honestly the hardest part (for us anyway) was from two to three. Then you’re “outnumbered” when they all get fractious at once. ACK. But then after three, it’s really just MORE (of everything…especially laundry and dishes).
Here’s praying that Andrew sleeps and eats well, and there are few bumps in the road. Have a good “baby-cation” Stacy!
So far he’s a great sleeper and eater! Still praying that will continue. 🙂

You will do fine being a mother of two. When I had my son three weeks early, my daughter was 2 1/2. You will have family to help and when your son gets bigger they will both have a blast playing with eachother.
What’s funny is, I had more help with Annie. LOL It’s like “Oh…well, she’s a mom and she knows what to do now.” 🙂

Congratulations! It takes about 6 weeks for the family to re-configure..Every Time You Add A New Child! (We have 8. I KNOW.) So give yourselves time to adjust, accept all the help that is offered, and keep yourself sane. You’re wise to hunker down and concentrate on yourself and the family just now. I know you know you don’t have to be Superwoman, just a faithful woman.

AMAZING!! God is good! Now my little guy has a new friend and they are only 6 days apart. We welcomed Samuel Eli on August 20th! Enjoy your Babymoon!!! We totally understand about learning to live with 2 little ones. We have 5 children now ages 17, 12, 10, 14 months, and a newborn…whew! This is one busy momma!! I will be reading with great interest on your impression on the transition for you as a mama once you’re back. I’m due in 3 months with our second child, and my son is around the same age as your daughter — I’m wondering about exactly what you mentioned, learning how to do this “mom” thing with two kids! So many of my friends have 3+ children that I feel silly even bringing it up to them. Seeing you mention it made me feel like I’m not in this boat alone!
Oh, and the Boppy cover in your picture is the same one my son had. I don’t have it anymore (wasn’t sure if I’d have more children, all his baby things have gone down different paths), but just seeing the pattern in your picture, with the two of your children together looking serenely at each other, seemed like a little heaven-sent assurance that everything will be OK.
I’m sure it will be OK for you too. A little crazy at first, but then a new rhythm will emerge.

Sure, I will holler at you, LOL! I hope I’m able to offer some encouragement to you as well through the comments section in your blog over time. You were wise to buy two covers of your favorite pattern for your boppy — they get stains quickly!
Since this is your first boy, I thought I’d share a book with you that has been a great help to me with my son — a book I’m going back and looking at again with the coming arrival of my second son. It’s called: “It’s a Boy!” by Michael Thompson, PhD and Teresa Barker. It’s a child development book that is specifically about the development of boys from birth through age 18, and it’s one of the best child development books I’ve read.
Even though I was a tomboy growing up, my small family constituted almost entirely of women. I had almost no experience with boys growing up until my teen years. Even though I was madly in love with my son, I was a little lost as to what to expect. I mean, I wasn’t completely lost — I knew what a CHILD needed, but reading this book helped me to better understand not just my son but the other men in my life too. I really believe this book helped me to be a better mother for my son, and to not fret when he wasn’t talking or potty trained as quickly as my friends’ little girls.
I’m fairly new to your blog, so maybe you had all brothers growing up and have a better idea of what to expect than I did. But this really is a great book, that appears to have no other agenda other than helping you to better understand your son through his different stages of development. Anytime someone I know has a little boy, I recommend this book. I thought I would do the same for you. And if you’ve already heard of it or read it, then I hope you don’t mind me taking up space on your page!

Yea!!! And CONGRATS!! You will LOVE having a boy especially with an older sister! My Ella is so compassionate and caring for her little brother, it’s awesome! And Ella is cuddly, but Ryan just has this different cuddliness about him, and I love it! I’m SO glad you’re taking time to yourself and your family.
