Five Minutes on Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday.  We LOVE that it is all about family, food and taking a moment to recognize just how many blessings God has granted us.  Even in the worst of times, there is always something to be grateful for. To us, that’s what Thanksgiving is about.  But there are other reasons we like Thanksgiving, and look forward to it every year.

Around the world, many countries observe the Thanksgiving holiday, even if it is done a little differently or at different times of the year.  There are at least ten reasons I LOVE Thanksgiving.

  1. We are reminded of why we should be thankful
  2. There is food involved!
  3. No gifts are expected/required
  4. Christmas is coming, and it is finally time to decorate (those who decorate before Thanksgiving make the Myers family sad – give Thanksgiving its due before moving on, people!)
  5. It’s hunting season!
  6. There is food involved!
  7. Family usually gets together
  8. Since it is on Thursday, Barry is usually off Friday so we enjoy a long weekend
  9. Macy’s Parade (the only parade we make an effort to watch)
  10. There is food involved!

There are a lot of neat traditions we have on Thanksgiving, so today, we decided to spend five minutes sharing some of them with you.  Enjoy!

Is Thanksgiving a big deal in your home?  How do you celebrate?

I love that: “Some people don’t have 4 seasons…” I grew up in VT. We had 3 seasons, if we were lucky. Winter, mud season, and a smattering of fall before winter set in again. If we were really lucky, we had a few 80* days in the “summer”. I think I remember it getting to 100*… once in the almost 18 years I lived there. Fall in VT is beautiful, but very short. We usually had snow from Thanksgiving to Easter or later if Easter was in March… or April. Aw, memories… I now live in IN, so I get to enjoy all 4 seasons! lol

I love your 5 min. videos! I like to reflect on the pilgrims and how they gave thanks when it must have been sacrificial praise after all they had endured! Losing half of their group in the first winter! It reminds me to always give thanks to God for all things even when its difficult!
I hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving day with good health and fair weather!

Thanksgiving is one of my top 3 celebrations. Family comes over…. games are played… and food is involved. ;0)
In fact, I’m tweaking my meal plan for the week right now to better incorporate ingredient preps and chores before the house fills up in addition to changing to some better game playing nibbles.
Have a richly blessed week! :0)
