Our Debt Free House: AFTER

Ta da!!!! As promised, here is the after video of our debt free house. So yeah – I realize I promised this video over a year ago when we posted the BEFORE video, but life happened. And honestly, we didn’t know what we were getting in to with a home renovation. “We’ll be done in a year…” I bet some of you probably openly snickered when I said that.

The big changes we made:

  • New heat pump
  • Converted car port into garage. We needed custom welding services for this project as there were a lot of metal materials involved.
  • We got an all new plumbing system(almost) with the help of a professional plumber. You may hire contractors such as plumbers in Greenville, SC if you also need assistance with your plumbing tasks.
  • All new wiring (almost).
  • Entire house painted.
  • All new appliances.
  • Added back porch and covered it.
  • Landscaping as well as a tree diagnosis in our backyard.
  • Rich’s Tree Service will help to remove any tree efficiently and safely, no matter the size and scope of the project, read more about it here!
  • New flooring from Brisbane cork flooring suppliers and tub re-tile & seal in bathroom.

We are very tickled with how this house has turned out – we love living here and have learned SO MUCH – including exactly what a basement smells like when it’s been showered with poop from the septic line.

I hope you enjoy the video. Holler at me if you have questions. 🙂

I was missing your blog so much recently that I spent an entire evening going through your blog and catching up on things I hadn’t seen before. So, I had just seen your “Before” video and now it’s so exciting to see the “After” — and that you accomplished that with babies and toddlers (and pregnancy) is amazing!! You and Barry are a true inspiration and a blessing to many. I’m so glad you’re back!! Congrats on the newest member of the family! P.S. We are long time fans of the Bread Beckers and live fairly close … next time you come to Atlanta/BBeckers – give a shout – we would be delighted to treat you to a meal 🙂 You can run a background check on me with Brad or Sue to make sure I’m not a stalker 🙂

So glad to hear from you! So glad! Congratulations on your newest addition! You all look GREAT! As soon as I saw your e-mail, I yelled out to my husband, “It’s Stacy!” He was happy too, as we would always watch you and Barry’s videos together! He has missed my reading both your posts out loud!
Your house looks so warm and cozy! It was a lot of work, yes?
I ordered your Crock On cookbook to give to our Daughter-in-law for Christmas! We were so amazed that you sent it within an hour! My! Thank you for offering that again for I have been wishing I could get one for her! We’ll be giving her a crock-pot, too! We think she would really enjoy not only your recipes but your humor and outlook on life, too! 🙂 We are tickled to see you and hear from you again! Hugs, Cheeryshirley (& Hubby)

You’re back – woohoo! I completely understand and respect your decision not to blog…but you were missed. I was just thinking about you the other day. My husband recently had a successful kidney transplant and I now have the time and energy to get a better handle on our budget and house projects, etc. As I was making a mental to-do list I thought of you and how encouraging your posts were to all of us. But I was a little sad that there weren’t going to be any new ones. Happy to know I was wrong :).

I wish we could get a house like that in Washington State for that little of money. You are blessed! You guys have done a lot of work! Fun to see the progress. I especially like the pallet coat holder-thingy-ma-jigger. Fun to see a post from you in my email today. Wishing for more, but understandable if not. You’re a busy mamma! God bless you and your fam!!

We didn’t buy ours with cash though. We are doing the remodel part with cash, but got in way over our heads. We’ll be looking at bare studs and insulation for a couple of years. The space is nice though–and love the neighborhood.

Ha, ha, When we get it done, video will be obsolete technology and I’ll be uploading a 3-D hologram so you can actually walk through it in your own home. I will update though when we get a little further. Painting the garage right now (taking a break) and building mud room cubbies in there next weekend.

Glad to see you’re back, have missed you posts. Congratulations on your latest addition. We did a remodel about 20 years ago. It’s where I learned to make a realistic estimate of time and money when it comes to remodeling. Whatever your budget is and your time schedule – if you double it you’ll be right on target! It’s so much fun, though when it’s done and we’ve enjoyed our house with our family for years. Good luck to you.

I never saw the before video, so I watched that one first. The place looks great! Good job! I can’t believe how little you got that place for. I live in Nova Scotia and the prices here are wayyyyy over inflated. My husband and I are looking for a house, only because it may be cheaper than what people are trying to charge for rent. It is a buyers market right now and prices are coming down pretty fast. We’re getting ready so start low balling. And our province is really, really screwed so we figure we might as well get a place out in the country and start stocking up on food. lol

Yay – y’all are finished!!! Everything looks so good! (And yes, y’all were a bit busy in the past 2 1/2 years….homeschooling, birthing two baby boys, minor stuff really (lol). LOVE the pencil sharpener – mine is still mounted on the wall going down to the basement at my parents’ house – and all the books in Annie’s bedroom! Quck question…is it a small headboard or just a little shelf holding the lamps behind the pillows in your bedroom? Congrats & enjoy your finished project. Y’all done good! 🙂

It’s a headboard. That bedroom set was my grandmother’s. I was given the set when she died. So, it’s a special set.
