For Annie’s first birthday, my mom and I decided that we wanted to do a bubble theme. Mainly because we’re kids at heart and we like bubbles. My wheels started turning for this party when she was only 6 months old and that’s when I started planning. I’m a planner. I do things in advance……WAY in advance. I’m not exactly a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants girl. That’s why God gave me a baby – to shake things up a little. Having a bubble party is very easy! Here’s what we did so that you can get an idea for yourself if you should ever want to go crazy and have a bunch of kids over to play with bubbles in 90 degree weather.

Barry and I love salsa. LOVE. Salsa is serious business at our house. Sure, we use the canned stuff but we like homemade the best. And it needs to be hot. Stacy and the Crab Legs
My husband turned the big 3-0 this week! Because of this monumental birthday, I wanted to cook him something special. Something that would really stand out and say “Hey! My wife loves me!” So, I chose his favorite meal – crab legs. This is where the comedy routine begins. I have never cooked crab legs before. They were a food that Barry only ate at the Fog Harbor or the Eagle Cafe restaurants. They were intimidating and scary looking to me. But then I saw this picture and determined that I could do it myself. I mean, look at them all pretty and beautiful with the lemon. Surely I could do that! So, off I went to Kroger. [Read more…]
Baked Eggs
Scrambled, fried, boiled, poached. I love cooking eggs! They’re so yummy and very filling. Plus, they’re cheap. We all know I love cheap things. I really like finding new ways to cook eggs. Around here, sometimes things are so busy that I don’t have the time to stand over the stove and cook eggs, keeping a watch so they don’t stick. When that’s the case, I make baked eggs. They’re quick, easy, and delicious. Try them sometime when you’re pressed for time but don’t want to eat ANOTHER granola bar. [Read more…]
Making Your Own Croutons

Today, we’re talking croutons! I love making my own croutons. They’re so delicious! I eat so many of them, I forget it’s salad that is supposed to be the main attraction. Last night I had salad and I kept going back to add more of these croutons. When I have bread that is starting to get hard or stale, then I know it’s time to make some of these babies. [Read more…]
Freezing Strawberries
Strawberry season is one of my favorite times of year.
Well, my birthday is my favorite time of year, but that’s neither here nor there. However, when my birthday does roll around I like cookbooks and food, just in case you’re curious. But as much as I know y’all want to, I’m not talk about my birthday today. I’m talking about freezing strawberries!
So, when I was growing up my family had a huge strawberry patch! We would never be able to use all the juicy strawberries before they went bad. So my family would let people from the community come and pick their own berries. But there were still so many strawberries left over! That’s how we got started freezing strawberries!
How to Boil Rice
Are you like me? Were your years marred by the fact that when you cooked rice, it always turned into a big ole blob in the pan when the water was finally gone? I hated cooking rice. The instant rice always stayed nice and pretty, but didn’t taste nearly as good as cooking regular long grain rice. Just how did Jackie Chan do it?
While scouring the internet for recipes one day, I came upon a different method for cooking rice. It sounded odd, but I was willing to try. It worked great! This will be my method for cooking rice from now until the Lord returns or I kick the bucket. I’m here to walk you through it so your life can be enlightened like mine! It’s so easy you’ll say “Well duh. Why didn’t I think of that?” [Read more…]
