As a general rule, I am not a quitter. Even if I start something I donāt like, I usually have to finish it or it drives me nutsā¦..except that one cross-stitch thingy. I am NOT talented at thatā¦.I just stick myself and get blood everywhere. But guess what? We quit the Sugar Detox Challenge. Yes, itās true. I know youāre astonishedā¦ā¦.or relieved. One of those. I think Barry was relieved. Sometimes it just feels good to say āI QUIT!ā Try itā¦.Iāll wait. See? Sometimes I like to say āI quit!ā even when I donāt really mean it ā but I mean it this time. We quit. Weāre done. Adios amigos. Hasta la bye bye. [Read more…] |

Sugar Detox Challenge – Week Five
Okay, letās have a recap. Our family decided to go on a Sugar DetoxĀ in order to get rid of a lot of the bad sugars that we still had in our diet, even though we were on the path to Whole Foods. Iāve rid the house of High Fructose Corn Syrup, all white flours, desserts even with healthy sugars, and all sugars except those like honey, Sucanat, and maple syrup. Weāre still doing great. Our only challenge comes in trying to explain to others why weāre passing the dessert table. At this point, Iām used to people thinking Iām weird, so itās no big deal for me. [Read more…] |
Sugar Detox Challenge – Week Four
Before we get into Week Four of the Sugar Detox challenge, letās review.Ā So far, weāve kicked out High Fructose Corn Syrup, refined white flours, and all desserts. How are we doing? However, Iāll just tell you that it might happen to be in line with a certain thing that occurs on a monthly basisā¦ā¦.and I ate a handful of almonds instead and was perfectly satisfied. I think it might all be in my head. Week four wasnāt that bad either. Letās see how it went. [Read more…] |
Sugar Detox Challenge – Week Three
So, you know weāve cut out High Fructose Corn Syrup and white flour. Weāve really not had a problem with it. Iāve also cut out soda for myself (Barry still has one occasionally) and Iāve been soda free for a little over a month. I donāt miss it as much as I thought I would. Iām going to attempt to make my own soda when summer busyness slows down around here. J Annie has never had a soda, a fact of which I am very proud.Ā The more I read about artificial sweeteners, the more I get freaked out.Ā Anyway, on to week three! [Read more…] |
Sugar Detox Challenge – Week Two
Well, we made it through week one. It wasnāt bad at all. I find that even after a week, Iām not craving sugar as much as I used to. Also, Iāve not had any sodas for several weeks, so maybe that helps. Research proves that diet soda makes you crave sweetsā¦.and I could really knock back the diet soda yāall. BUT, I was nervous to get my next email. I was afraid it was going to be something super drastic and my family would call the looney bin to get me admitted. They have threatened it in the past. Of course week two continues eliminating the High Fructose Corn Syrup, but it also adds that now I should eliminate Corn Syrup as well. Good thing I did that right along with the HFCS. They are different. Who knew? Better safe than sorry. [Read more…] |
