20 Crock Pot Pumpkin Real Food Recipes

20-real-food-pumpkin-recipes

In just yet another area of life, I feel like a rebel. Why? Because if I can I confess something here.. I’m just “okay” with pumpkin recipes. I like it well enough, but I don’t scream and jump up and down when Pumpkin Spice Lattes are hitting the local Starbucks. I can eat pumpkin any time of year – and I do! – but I’m not cuckoo over it.

I will admit though, there is something about turning leaves and crisp mornings that makes me crave pumpkin just a little bit more. Even I can’t deny that something about pumpkin combined with spices makes me want to put on wooly socks and flannel pajamas. And I know I’m not alone in this. In fact, I’ve been seeing yummy pumpkin foods and cozy fall posts all over Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest for weeks now!

But seriously… what is it with pumpkin anyway?

From Pumpkin Spice Lattes to Pumpkin Milkshakes to Paleo Pumpkin Pancake Mix – pumpkin flavors are LITERALLY turning up everywhere and in everything. What is it about this fall flavor blend that gets everyone so fired up? The world may never know…

Favorite Breakfast Recipes

Favorite Breakfast Recipes

I store all of my favorite and most-used recipes in page protectors in a 3-inch binder that stays in my closet. When I make my meal plan, I choose one or two new recipes and then the rest are old standbys from the binder. I clean it out a few times a year to make room for new recipes we try and love.  I’ve had several requests to talk about my favorite recipes by category, so let’s do this! Where should we start? Well…they do say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so let’s talk about my favorite breakfast recipes.

Oh Breakfast, how do I love thee…let me count the ways.

I may have mentioned a time or two…or two hundred…that breakfast is one of my favorite meals. I could literally eat it every day for the rest of my life 😉 A while back, I shared my 10 Easy, Go-To Breakfasts and I received a lot of comments on how much y’all loved that.  I’ve also let y’all in on my secret to stress-free mornings with my Solution For Your Breakfast Woes. Make-ahead breakfasts for the win! This post isn’t quite that focused – in this post, we’re focused on a lot of my favorite recipes, but what you do with them and when is all up to you. [Read more…]

The 13 Best Muffin Recipes of all Time

Let’s be honest here. Muffins are just a way to get more butter into our bodies. We can’t just sit around eating spoonfuls of butter without looking like lunatics. But, smear that butter on a muffin? Totally acceptable!

I love a GOOD muffin. I make muffins at least once a week for breakfast and sometimes more often so that I can offer them as snacks to the kids. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that they top my baking list and show up often. I like to use Trina Holden’s hashtag #buttervehicle as much as humanly possible.

Notice my emphasis on GOOD. Nasty muffins are just…nasty. Not even worth the butter you might waste on them. Boycott nasty muffins! [Read more…]

Barry’s Favorite Humorous Homemaking Recipes: A Selection

You’ve been asking me for a list of my favorite recipes.  Why?  Because apparently you know that in addition to the role of contributor, husband, web developer, crisis manager, bookkeeper and defender, I also am blessed to be the official Humorous Homemaking taste tester.  It is one of my most difficult assignments, having to sample everything that comes out of Stacy’s kitchen.  You may think I’m being sarcastic here, but you can only imagine how difficult it is to maintain a girlish waistline when presented with some new delicacy almost daily.  I have a real challenge on my hands!

All kidding aside, when we asked in a survey late last year what you’d like to see from me, several of you wanted to know my favorites.  Many of you admitted it is because you want to make these for your man, but I suspect it is because each of you want to make these for me and present them as a tribute for my expert taste buds to judge the quality of your ingredients and the skill with which you combined them to a final product.

No matter the reason, you asked.  So here you go.  I went through the various archives of Stacy’s recipes and picked out my 35 favorites.  [Read more…]

100 Crock Pot Dessert Recipes: Whole-Foods Style

With the popularity of my 100 Days of No Processed Foods: Crock Pot Style post, I’ve realized there is a huge need and desire for crock pot recipes that don’t call for pre-packaged foods. When glancing through Pinterest, it’s evident that most crock pot recipes call for mixes, boxes, and cans of stuff from the grocery store. That’s why I so enjoy posting wholesome, whole-food crock pot recipes each Friday.

I got an idea in my head that wouldn’t go away. I have a dream – my dream is a huge list and resource of crock pot desserts that don’t call for cake mix, pudding, and canned pie mix. Did you know that before today, there isn’t such a list (at least not one that I can find). Well, BOOYA, BABY! I spent hours compiling this list for you. And it was a lot of fun hours, because as we all know, I love list making. [Read more…]

4 Ingredient No-Churn Pumpkin Ice Cream

pumpkin ice cream

In the spirit of keeping it real, let me tell you… bombed a recipe. Well, not really BOMBED – as in, setting on fire. But the recipe was sub-par and I don’t post sub-par recipes. It’s the perfectionist in me, which sometimes needs to take a hike.

I wanted to show y’all how you can use your blender for all kinds of things – besides smoothies! – and tried a recipe for Raw Cinnamon Bun Bites from my Blendtec blender cookbook. But when I switched some of the ingredients… it just didn’t turn out super yummy.

Instead, I’ve giving y’all my 4 Ingredient No-Churn Pumpkin Ice Cream!

20 Nutty Recipes

I love nuts
from my head down to my
errrrrrrrrrrr. Um, yeah. I love nuts. They are a tasty treat – a delicious snack – a good side – a nice topping – a good dinner. Wait, that’s not just me who eats nuts for a meal, right?

Around these parts, we keep nuts on hand all the time – because sometimes Mama gets a brain freeze and can’t think of something for snack. Out come the nuts! Not to mention that they make a delicious garnish. Am I the only one who sometimes just eats the garnish? I’m not a very formal person. [Read more…]

Pumpkin Breakfast Cake (GF)

If you search Pinterest or Swagbucks  for pumpkin recipes, you will encounter approximately 1 trillion options
maybe more. My pumpkin recipes are but a drop in the bucket. This time of year, a pumpkin recipe starts to look kinda BLAH after you’ve seen a couple hundred of them. I even hesitated to use this cookbook.

But then I smacked myself and got over it. Why do I care if there are one trillion recipes for pumpkin already? There isn’t THIS one. And even if you don’t care, I do. I love this recipe and I’m sure glad I made it for my tummy. And guess what? Like I already told you, this isn’t the last pumpkin recipe you’re going to see. You’ve been warned. 😉 Make that 1 trillion and ONE. [Read more…]

Crock Pot Pumpkin Gingerbread Steel Cut Oats

I love everything with pumpkin in it, so this crockpot pumpkin gingerbread oatmeal is perfect! It cooks overnight, so breakfast is ready when you wake up!

Let’s cut to the chase here. Since I figured out how to make oats in the crock pot using a water bath instead of cooking them directly in the crock, it’s made my wheels turn a bit. I’ve been dreaming up all sorts of flavors to make – since I can actually get up and eat them instead of using the mixture as wallpaper paste.

This one came to me because, frankly – I like pumpkin stuff. That should be evident by the amount of recipes I post with it
soooooooooooooooo, being frank again (Frank and Pete must be related), if you don’t like pumpkin, you might want to zone out for the next few months and come back to me in the spring. Or when I run out of pumpkin – which isn’t likely to happen. [Read more…]

Pumpkin Pie with Gluten Free Flax Crust

Trim Healthy Tuesday: Pumpkin Pie with Gluten Free Flax Crust (S) Humorous Homemaking

In my misspent food youth, I was dumb. I didn’t eat certain things. Stuff like salad, cabbage, and salmon were off my radar. Man, how dumb is that? If I could go back and talk to myself, I would smack Misspent Stacy around a little bit.

Dear Missspent Stacy, you’re being stupid. That salad is delicious. And quit being afraid of cabbage – what did it ever to do you? Just eat it. Put down the Corn Flakes and marshmallows (yes, my fave young combo) and EAT A SALAD YOU DORK! Sincerely, Smarter Future Stacy. [Read more…]
